beautiful ending

to a really bad day.

yesterday, we had thunderstorms, lightning, and rain.
it was really neat to be inside at work listening to the
rumblings of the thunder and
the rain on the roof
and watching the storm travel across the mountains.

little did we know, that while we were oohing and aahing from below
up on the mountain a whole other event was taking place.

we started hearing rumors late afternoon and
when we got to work this morning,
we heard the awful news that the lightning storms hit
3 different climbing/hiking partys up above.
17 people total
at least one dead
unsure of the injuries to the others
but at least 3 in very serious condition
the details were pretty horrific
we don't know any of the people involved
but our thoughts and prayers went out to them just the same.

after work we had to run to town
and on the way home from town
we were treated not only to one rainbow
but a double rainbow
over the national elk reserve
plus, we got to see both ends.

hope all the good luck
in the golden buckets
at each end of those rainbows
is used for the people who were caught in the lightning storms earlier in the day.
