little bit of nothing

not much to post about this week.

saturday, we moved over to gros ventre campground

where we will be until october.

there are only 3 other residents here.

our work schedules are different,

so we don't see much of each other.

while we were packing up to move

i was able to get a couple pictures of the birds in the pond.

because of the rule not allowing anyone on to the refuge,

i was not abe to get as close as i would have liked.

all last year, i tried and tried to get a picture

the blue heron and the trumpeter swans

that hung out on the ponds by the highway leaving town.

i can't believe i had them all to myself here in the little pond

where we lived for 3 weeks.

caught this duck stretching his wings

blue heron and pair of trumpeter swans
the heron was walking across the little island in the pond

right after i took this picture
the blue heron caught a fish

not much else except for working.

caught these two elk on the way home tonight.

they were the last of the herd to cross the road.

our truck really scares the elk and

they run when we get anywhere near them.

these guys were left behind when the others ran across in front of us.

they were trying to decide what to do and where to run.

eventually, they turned around and ran to the trees behind them.

weather has been rainy and cold, with snow in the mountains.

we are a bit like the bears right now.

it's too cold to go out and do much,

so we poke our heads out the door and peek around

then scurry back into the trailer and turn the heater up.

the bears do not have the luxury of having a heater like we do.

snapped these when i looked out the door tonight.

the sun was shining thru the trees

there is just a bit of green starting to peek out on the ground in the middle of alot of winter brown

can't wait for the weather to warm up enough to

feel motivated to get out and wander around.

visiting the visitor center

yesterday, i had to help out at our visitor center

that sits on the edge of town and the national elk refuge.

there is a small pond behind it

and while i was taking a short break,

i snapped a couple of pictures.

there is a park next door to the visitor center

with more ponds on the other side

and on any given day,

there is probably more canadian geese,

hanging out there,

then visitors.

feeling a bit sheepish today

we took a drive further onto the refuge tonite

and we lucked out finding all the big horn sheep.

along with the elk, they will also be leaving soon

to head up into the high country until next fall.

they were pretty patient with us and did not seem too afraid.

love this sleepy head's cute smile

it is a bit blurry, but there is a young guy climbing up the side of the rocks.

enough already!!!

we woke up and traveled to work

in snow

again!!

by noon, it had turned to rain

and most of the snow on the ground was gone.

but we heard that the snow was sticking and piling up further north.

momma & baby moose look like they could use a warm sunny day also

ready for take off

clouds in the trees

sunday, the clouds were hanging in the trees on the mountains behind us.

duck duck goose

canadian goose, that is.

these guys were on the roof of one of the garages where we are staying.

it was almost dark when john took these, so they are not real clear
but i thought they were fun, anyway.
