don't mess with the moose

in this post from june 30th

http://wedontknowwhere.blogspot.com/2011/06/up-close-and-personal.html

i wrote about a moose

that was so close

we could reach out and

touch  him.

 the pictures were really cute

and made him look

very sweet

and docile.

you just wanted to

lean over the railing and

scratch behind his ears.

well, don't let those

big brown eyes fool you.

here is another version

of that sweet cute moose.

a moose can move very quick

and kicks harder than a horse.

they can and have

killed people with one swift kick.

how many is too many sunset pictures?

these were taken tonight

at the south end of mormon row.

.

away from the maddening crowd

sunday, july 3rd was a very busy

and crowded day

both in town and the park.

so we headed east over togahtee pass

thru dubois and a few miles on.

we had the highway to ourselves

most of the way.

we passed 2 bears and a cub

but they were too far off the road for any pictures.

there was still a bit of snow at the summit.

looks a bit like a zebra.

the terrain changes on the other side of dubois.

the hills turn red

and then quickly flatten out to prairie and grass.

the wind river was just as full of snowmelt as the snake.

we stopped for a burger at the cowboy cafe

and headed back over the pass for home.

god bless america

while the storm clouds gather far across the sea,

let us swear allegiance to a land that's free,

let us all be grateful for a land so fair,

as we raise our voices in a solem prayer.

god bless america

land that i love.

stand beside her,

and guide her

thru the night with a light from above.

from the mountains,

to the prairies,

to the oceans, white with foam.

god bless america,

my home sweet home.

we have a very nosy neighbor

this morning

she watched me hang

the laundry on the line.

i think she was waiting

for me to hang

some dirty laundry.

she was out of luck on that one.

no good gossip from me!!!

then she tried to hide out

and see what was going on

at the trailer.

she pretended she was

casually eating a branch or two.

but i was on to her.

on top of that....

she had the nerve

to try to see what was

in our truck!!!

like we would have anything

of any interest to hide

back there!!!

she finally figured out

that we have nothing to hide

and are pretty darn boring,

so she went off to see what

the neighbors were up to.

i think i will call her

mrs. kravitz

and if you are too young

to know

who mrs kravitz is

ask me, i will explain.

.

if the lord is willing and the creek don't rise

we officially have waterfront property.

somewhere east of us

but very close,

the gros ventre river has gone over it's bank

and because of that

there is more than one stream

between us and the river.

no picnics on this table for awhile

the water is almost to the neighbor's satelite dish

the picnic table sitting in water is to the left of the big tin can trailer

looking across the street from our trailer.
down a small hill
on the other side of the log and table
is the creek

water running over rocks

normally, it is about a 4 minute walk to the river.

for the water to make it to the vehicles

it would have to be pretty strong

and high enough to come up the small hill

that is behind the rv's across the street.

it was a bit unsettling at first

see the water so close,

but once we checked it out,

we were not too worried.

the park service says this weekend

 should be the highest

 the gros ventre gets.

hope someone told the creek
